About the Department
The Department of Sociology of Bartın University was founded in 2010 within the structure of Faculty of Literature. The Department have four sub-departments: general sociology and methodology, applied sociology, institutional sociology, sociometry. The Department currently have two associated professors, five assistant professors and four research assistants with 224 undergraduate students. In the Department of Sociology, undergraduate program is a four-year (eight-term) program. Curriculum of the Department is designed to encourage students to be engage with various perspectives about sociological thought from micro to macro levels. Participants of the undergraduate program have an option to be involve in the Pedagogical Formation Certificate Program which allows them teaching in primary and secondary schools in Turkey. Furthermore, the Department of Sociology frequently organizes seminars, conferences and talks where our students meet distinguished academicians in the field.
