Mission and Vision
Sociology is a well-established modern science which struggles to build the epistemology of co-habitation. In spite of the fact that the field of sociology is comprised of theories, approaches and methodologies in which the manifold diversity might be seen, two century-old journey of sociology has remained on the basis of Eurocentric world views. In the light of this view, the Department of Sociology of Bartın University prioritizes taking into account of the multiplicity of different, divergent world civilizations and their impacts on the field of sociology and social life.
The aim of the Department is to equip its undergraduates with sociological tools evaluating the world in the context of humanitarian values. The Department also appreciates and tries to widen its local, regional and global networks. In order to reach that desired objective, the Department of Sociology of Bartın University values international and national exchange programmes like Erasmus, Mevlana and Farabi at high degree.
